Happy Now: Seeking Clarity to Find Satisfaction

No matter how frequently we fall we must keep climbing!

Not to diminish the joy or the fun of wishing people a happy new year, but I’ve been thinking lately that each new year comes along with an interesting phenomenon.  The new year is often associated with an ability to do just about anything.   More accurately, the turning over of each new year is often associated with the drive and the perceived ability to engage in and accomplish just about anything.

We make resolutions.  Sometimes those resolutions turn out to simply be incarnations of goals that we’ve held but been previously been unable to commit to with any degree of fidelity.  For a moment, as the clock strikes midnight, we believe that this is the time.  We latch on to the new year as an injection of enthusiasm for enhancing our lives in ways that we’ve been hoping to for some time.

Of course there are exceptions to every rule.  I’m sure that many of you have made and stayed true to lots of life-altering resolutions as catalyzed by the gigantic glowing ball dropping in New York City and the turning of a calendar page.  However, when it doesn’t work out, there exists the danger of going in the extreme other direction.  Sometimes when a commitment turns out to be untimely it completely disappears.  Sometimes, falsely committing to forward progress becomes a catalyst to giving up.

I happen to believe that every moment is an opportunity for a renewed commitment to progress.  I believe that “happy New Year” is fine, but that “Happy Now” is truly the way to go.  I have yet to see all the answers clearly, but I have been able to maintain a commitment to learning and growth with a “Happy Now,” moment-to-moment, right place right time, go slow to go fast, stay true to your core values philosophy in mind.  And for the most part, I am happy now…and now….and even now.  Happy now!

Live. Learn. Lead.

Dream Big. Work Hard. Be Well.
